“A new contemporary art gallery is drawing attention to this border town, and there’s plenty more to do and see” – Elisabeth Knowles
According to The Daily Telegraph,
“The hottest new tourist attraction in town is the Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA). Opened in October, the $10.5 million-dollar redevelopment has an edgy collection of Australian contemporary fine art, photography and indigenous works. Its first major international exhibition will be Marilyn: Celebrating an American Icon, from February 12 to May 8. The museum’s Canvas Eatery, run by chef Tim Tehan, formerly of Melbourne cafe Birdman Eating, is up and running… Keep your eyes peeled for floor-level cubbyholes displaying concealed artworks, which have been installed especially for kids to enjoy”.
The Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA) is the “hottest new attraction in town”, according to The Daily Telegraph. The recent article features the top 18 reasons to visit Albury, with MAMA holding the number one spot.
NBRS+PARTNERS created a design solution for the Art Gallery. The new additions include a large curved Foyer and flexible exhibition spaces with natural lighting, controlled environmental conditions and movable walls, ideal for local and international exhibitions. Other facilities include a gallery shop, cafe/restaurant with an outdoor terrace, a Youth Members’ room, two workshops for public participation and an extensive collection store.
Since its grand re-opening, MAMA has seen thousands of visitors, and looks forward to welcoming many more during 2016.
